Youth and Family Coordinator

Job Description

The Youth and Family Coordinator is responsible for marketing and administrative functions of Seekers Hebrew School, which has approximately 30 students. In addition,  they are responsible for administering  Romemu’s Youth and Family department, including: B Mitzvahs, family Shabbat and other family programming, teens, and holiday programming The Youth & Family Manager will report directly to the Director of Music and Youth and Family.

The right candidate is great with people, organized, creative and tech savvy. This position requires proficiency with data management and previous program and administrative experience.

Must be able to work in-person some evenings and most Saturdays.   During the week this candidate will be responsible for attending a combination of in-person and virtual meetings.

This is a full-time opportunity for a visionary Jewish educator to bring an already dynamic educational program to new levels.

Role and Responsibilities 

Seekers School:

  • Recruit, interview, hire and supervise Hebrew tutors and those leading Shabbat prayer and education programs
  • Provide ongoing teacher training
  • Recruit families; responsible for publicity and outreach
  • Administer all aspects of program and logistical details
    • Administrative functions include, but are not limited to, creating time cards and invoices for teachers, scheduling Hebrew tutoring sessions, billing parents, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with a developing Seekers parent committee
  • Greet parents and oversee classes

Seekers Programming:

  • Develop and coordinate calendar of classes and activities for the year, including special programs such as Shabbat dinners, holiday programs, mitzvah projects and retreats
  • Write and disseminate weekly newsletter to the families
  • Create and drive programming to include a high school/teen component
  • Attend and oversee kids and family services

B-Mitzvah Management:

  • Manage logistics of all B mitzvahs including training, rehearsals, programs, d’vrei torah, kiddushim
  • Coordinate preparation of B mitzvah students with Romemu clergy
  • Build and expand B mitzvah program. Meet with prospective bar/bat mitzvah families.

  • Passion for Jewish spirituality and education
  • Ability to articulate a strong and vital educational vision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to manage and relate to students, a diverse faculty, and a parent group that demands high standards
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can have a positive impact on both strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational skills demonstrated by staying on top of the details of managing all aspects of the program.
  • An educated and intuitive sense of the spirit and practice of Judaism
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to Romemu’s mission
  • Demonstrates understanding and full support of the mission, vision, values and beliefs of the congregation; can demonstrate those values to others

Qualified applicants will have successful teaching and administrative experience and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

What you’ll receive 

  •  Full-time position with a salary of $50,000 – $60,000 dependent on experience.
