Shir Yaakov is a singer, composer, designer, producer and teacher. Whether as Romemu's Musical Director, an officiant at weddings and lifecycle events, or as one-half of the world-hop duo Darshan; in synagogues, yeshivas, and intentional communities around the world; and in Jewish, multi-faith, and non-affiliated spiritual contexts, Shir Yaakov weaves a tapestry of Kabbalistic wisdom, contemporary songwriting, and deep personal spirituality. He has recorded and released four albums of original music. As a spiritual leader, he has led services and ritual in a wide variety of contexts, from Hasidic yeshivas to multifaith, LGBTQ, and earth-based spiritual groups.
Jane's Master's Degrees in Information Science and Instructional Technology are helpful as she creates the infrastructure necessary to support the growth of Romemu. A serial entrepreneur, Jane has created 3 companies annd 1 non profit throughout her career. Currently she is the owner of a loose leaf, organic tea company called Ducky Life Tea. She is also involved as the Administrator for Physicians for a National Health Plan in New Jersey. Jane has taught Hebrew School for over 3 decades, sat on numerous boards in the public and private sectors. She is a recipient of the prestigious "Entrepreneur of the Year" award,. Jane brings creativity and heart to her work with our spiritual community.
Jade Netanya Ullmann brings her passion for social justice, health and wellness, and ecumenical spiritual experience to Romemu. Jade Netanya studied in yeshiva in NY and Israel and is a graduate in contemplative psychology from Naropa University. She has been involved with numerous activist issues, from addressing police brutality in NYC, to organizing for Students for a Free Tibet to co-facilitating the Gender, Power, and Class Institute with Be Present, Inc. Formerly a partner in Centerpoint Yoga Studios, Jade Netanya has been a part of Threshold Foundation since 2002, is former co-chair of their Grant Committee and is a member of the Funding Circle for Restorative Justice.
Originally from Long Island, Allison is passionate about Jewish education and community-building. Allison participated in Young Judaea’s Year Course where she studied and volunteered in Israel, and has spent many summers working at Young Judaea’s regional camps in New York and Wisconsin. After graduating from Binghamton University with a degree in Judaic Studies, Allison moved to Washington, DC where she spent 2 years creating innovative religious and cultural programs for young professionals at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue. Allison is excited to join the staff at Romemu and to be a part of this amazing community. Outside of Romemu, some of her favorite things in life are chocolate, Post-It-Notes, and the New York Rangers.
Zach Fredman, of St. Louis, Missouri, came to New York as an undergraduate at NYU where he studied classical guitar and conceptions of God. Zach has worked in a variety of settings — as a teacher of creative play to preschoolers and their parents, as a song-leader and as an Oud-ist, as a consultant in ritual and meaning-making, and as a translator of ancient Midrash. As a teacher, Zach makes use of art, yoga, movement and storytelling to inspire prayer. Zach has worked with Storahtelling, Congregation B'nai Jeshurun, and CLAL, as a Rabbinic Fellow for Rabbis Without Borders. He is currently in his 4th year of rabbinical school at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and is a Rabbi at the New Shul in the West Village.
