ROMEMU+THE MOTH=ROMEMOTH
Friday April 24th Following Kabbalat Shabbat Services, in the Chapel
And the sound we make together/is the music to the story in your eyes/It’s been shining down upon you now/I realize.
The Moody Blues had it right when they noted that there are stories in our eyes.
Introducing Romemoth, the perfect marriage between Romemu and the iconic public storytelling project, The Moth. A portal for sharing the stories in our eyes… and our hearts.
It’s a simple formula: Pick a theme. Prepare a true-life story of not more than five minutes. Get picked. Present.
For our inaugural Romemoth which will take place in the course of a cafe-style dinner on Friday night, April 24th after Shabbat services, we have picked the compelling theme of “Coincidence/Bashert.”
What is coincidence or its Jewish near-equivalent: Bashert? Are our lives a string of random acts or is there an unseen order? Are we in control or are we being gently prodded in a preordained direction? For the answers, we turn to you.

Prepare your Coincidence/Bashert story and then send a snippet in an audio or video file of not more than 90 seconds to shira.dicker@sd-media.com. Captivate us with your personal take on this topic. It can be funny. It can be serious. It can be irreverent. It can be linear or experimental. But it needs to be true. And it needs to speak to us.
For our first live event, we will be picking EIGHT storytellers. The other entries will go into our Romemoth story on-line archive.
Deadline for submissions is April 13, 2026
