Pastoral Care
What is Pastoral Care?
Pastoral Care is a model of spiritual and emotional support. We provide compassionate and affirmative listening to people in their pain, loss and anxiety as well as joys and blessings.
Is Pastoral Care "Therapy"?
Pastoral care is not psychotherapy and does not replace sessions with an individual’s to therapist.
How many sessions can I schedule?
Sessions last for 45-50 minutes, are usually limited to three consecutive sessions, and are intended for Romemu members only.
While these sessions are intended for members, if you are not a member and are in need of pastoral care, we will meet with you once to determine how we might be of assistance or what kind of referrals we can make. In the event that you need them, we will also give you a list of communal resources that we have created based on various pastoral needs. We will suggest resources that are available to the community at large.
Who will I be assigned?
Since our clergy acts as a team, any one of our pastoral clergy may meet with you. Please note, the clergy meets weekly as a team to confidentially discuss pastoral cases.
To meet the needs of Romemu members aged 60+ we have a partnership with DOROT. Through this partnership our members also have support from a dedicated social worker. Depending on your specific needs, a member of the clergy may refer to out social worker for added support. Learn more about our partnership with DOROT here.
Although you will only be meeting with one member of the team, you will have the benefit of the expertise of the whole pastoral team to support you.
What should I do in the case of a death or pastoral emergency?
