Elul Courses | Prepare for the High Holy Days
The Hebrew month of Elul is the month prior to Rosh Hashanah. Traditionally this is a time of learning and reflection as we prepare for the Aseret Yemei Teshuvah (Ten Days of Repentance) or Yamim Noraim (Days of Awe) – the 10 days starting with Rosh Hashanah and running through Yom Kippur.
This year Elul begins on Aug. 26.
Join Romemu clergy for deep, spiritual, Torah learning to help you prepare in mind, heart, and spirit for the High Holy Days.
All Elul courses are being offered through Romemu’s Digital Learning Center. Among other benefits, this means if you miss a class or the timing does not work for you, you can log in anytime to watch recordings after the class.
Romemu’s Digital Learning Center makes it easy to:

This course will meet Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM from September 1 – 22.
Elul Beit Midrash
Disturbing the Field: The Healing Power of Teshuvah
Teshuvah means to return– to return to ourselves, to our Divine Source. The process at once renews and challenges us in that it requires a willingness to look deeply and open ourselves to seeing and shifting entrenched life patterns.
Join Rabbi Dianne Cohler-Esses to explore wisdom, from ancient to contemporary, regarding the nature of Teshuvah/repentance as well as practical guidance for it in the Torah, rabbinic and mystical literature. Participants will be invited to put ideas we discuss into practice between classes by journaling and engaging in mindfulness practices. The class will include close text study, hevrutah (study in pairs and small groups) and sharing reflections on Teshuvah in large group discussions.
This course will meet on Tuesdays from 7 – 8:30 PM from August 30 – September 13.
