Romemu Manhattan is a progressive, fully egalitarian Jewish community of people from all walks of life — young and old, orthodox and secular, multi-ethnic and intermarried, conservative and liberal, committed and disillusioned, of any and all genders. We share a passion for Judaism that is spiritually alive, intellectually honest, physically aware, and above all, heart-centered.
Who We Are
Our congregation is astoundingly diverse, with robust sub-communities of both young and more established families, singles of all ages, partnered couples of any and all gender affiliations, Jews and other spiritual seekers of all races and beliefs.
The community is guided by an extraordinary group of spiritual and lay leaders and engages a stellar roster of staff, adjunct teachers and scholars who support a robust calendar of programming, community building, pastoral support and meaningful spiritual practice every season of the year.
We are
A welcoming home where people of all genders, ages, abilities and life stages participate equally and fully in song, dance, learning and praying
An oasis in New York City where you can focus on your heart and catch your breath
A place where you can participate in chanting of Hebrew prayers, sing powerful wordless melodies, and have moments of deep silence
A space that honors insights and practices found in many eastern spiritual paths, and that offers meditation and yoga within a deeply Jewish practice
A center dedicated to a Yiddishkeit — Judaism — that opens body, heart, mind and spirit to experience greater compassion, courage, and joy in our lives
A community where you can connect with other seekers on a spiritual journey to deepen their connection to Judaism and increase compassion in our world
Get Involved
Join us for services every Friday and Saturday on the Romemu Campus on 105th and Amsterdam or join online.
The Jewish holiday cycle provides opportunities for celebration and reflection throughout the year. Join with your community for services, classes, and special programs to mark each holiday.
Families of all compositions and with children of all ages have many opportunities to celebrate, learn, and grow in community with Romemu Youth and Family programs.
Whether you are interested in deepening your Jewish learning, looking for ways to meet new people, or serve through social action, there is a group that is right for you.
We celebrate with one another the good times, and comfort one another in times of loss and sadness. Whether welcoming a new baby, celebrating a wedding, or mourning the loss of loved one, your community and the Romemu clergy are with you every step of the way.
