At the heart of Romemu Brooklyn is spiritual uplift, as manifested through our davening, our collective prayer and song. We make holy moments pleasing to the senses and enlivening to the soul. Our services are vital and alive, and speak to people of all backgrounds and experience. We create the perfect blend of exceptional, talented professional clergy and musicians with brilliant, generous, creative members of our community to generate meaningful experiences for all assembled. You’re not just welcome, you’re wanted.

Hazzan Basya Schechter and Rabbi Annie Lewis will be leading and guiding our community through our High Holy Days again this year. We are grateful to have returning musicians, Almog Sharvit on the upright bass, Micha Gilad on the keys, and Shai Wetzer on percussion, along with other special musical guests and many members of our community sharing their voices, music, and words. And we are excited to welcome back Stav Meishar to lead our young people in special Kids Rock services and creative engagement.

Romemu Brooklyn High Holy Day services use the fully transliterated Machzor Eit Ratzon. We will pray a thoughtful blend of traditional and innovative liturgy and melodies (with electrified sound). Our vibe is the best of Brooklyn’s “come as you are”. People wear what feels right to them on the holidays, and so should you!

Our Venue

This year we will be holding our High Holy Days services at the Old First Reformed Church, 729 Carroll Street, on the corner of 7th Avenue in Park Slope. Known for its beautiful, light-filled halls and welcoming vibes, our collective voices will lift all of our spirits and souls as we sing, pray, teach, and learn together. Conveniently located near many subway stops and bus lines, this venue is easy to access from many Brooklyn and Manhattan neighborhoods. It is also accessible. (This is a new location for our High Holy Days and we are very excited about it!)
