100% of all membership dues go towards supporting your community.

As with most organizations, the majority of operating expenses are for staff – clergy who lead our services, teach our classes, and support each and every member through life’s ups and downs; teachers and educational staff who create opportunities for learning and growth for adults and children; the program team that creates meaningful, impactful experiences for us all; the communications team that ensures we all know about all the opportunities Romemu offers; the facilities team that keeps our old and frail facilities functional; the development and operations team that keeps everything running smoothly. We could not do what we do and have the impact we have in the lives of so many without our hardworking teams.

The next largest share of operating expenses is for our facilities. As old and in need of enhancements as they are, they are our home. We will soon be launching a capital campaign to create a home worthy of our community. We are doing what we can to keep building costs down and leveraging our space to raise income by renting out space to others.

No

In order for membership dues alone to be enough to sustain Romemu, every member would need to pay $6,400. In a typical business model, this would be what we charge for membership and only those who could pay would be able to reap all the benefits of engaging with Romemu.

This is counter to our mission and our commitment to inclusivity. We do not turn anyone away, regardless of their financial situation. This is important for each member to ask themselves, ““Are the dues that I am paying an equitable share based on my income and my commitment to Romemu? Can I become a Sustainer, paying the full cost of my membership? Could I give at a higher end of the dues range for my current level?”

The Romemu membership year runs from July 1 – June 30 of each year. Each membership year includes member benefits for one cycle of High Holy Days.

When your membership is getting close to lapsing, we will send you a statement with the membership dues of your current membership level for the coming year. You view your balance and make dues payments  anytime by making a dues payment in our Membership Portal or use the Membership Renewal form to renew anytime.

Each new member is paired with an Ambassador, a Romemu member who will reach out to you and help you connect with other members and all that Romemu has to offer.

We have a wonderful new member orientation program designed to allow first-time members of Romemu to meet and form connections with other new members, our clergy, volunteer leadership, and the community at large. New Member Orientation is held several times throughout the year. All members who have joined since the previous Orientation will receive an invitation when the next one is scheduled. Can’t make the dates offered? No problem. If you are unable to make the first orientation after you join, we will send you an invitation to future sessions.
