Attended by over 100 people, this panel discussion explored the myths surrounding incarceration as the ultimate solution for crime and safety, and which institutions induce behavioral change that increases public safety.

What are the foremost Food Insecurity needs in NYS and beyond? What public policy strategies work to address them? How can Community Based and Mutual Aid Organizations contribute effectively to this effort? How are Collectives raising awareness about and empowering those who provide Food Assistance to New Yorkers? How can we take local action in response to Food Insecurity and Food Apartheid?
Join the Romemu Social Action Committee for a panel discussion moderated by activists Lauren Ahava Jacobs and Rabbi Mira Rivera, featuring keynote speaker Karen Washington, Co-owner/Farmer at Rise & Root Farm, co-founder of Black Urban Growers (BUGS), and one of Ebony magazine’s 100 most influential African Americans in the country; as well as panelists Daiken Nelson of Mandala Cafe, Kathryn Graybill of the Food Assistance Collective of New York and Broadway Community Presybterian Church, Natalia Malone Hernandez of Ujamaa Comunity Fridge, and Chris Nickell, Deputy Chief of Staff for State Senator Robert Jackson and partner with West Side Campaign Against Hunger as we lift up this pressing issue of our current times.
